Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Zakharova said on February 18th local time that the U.S. Sixth Fleet held exercises in the Russian border area, which was obviously anti-Russian and threatened regional peace and stability.
Zakharova pointed out that the American action gives people the feeling of looking for an opponent, but it won’t get it.
On February 11, the Russian Embassy in the United States issued a statement demanding that the U.S. military stop “flaunting its power” in the Black Sea.
The statement stressed that peace and stability in the Black Sea region do not require foreign interference.
According to the announcement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the destroyer Donald Cook of the United States Navy sailed into the Black Sea waters on January 23 and the destroyer Porter sailed into the Black Sea on January 28.
The Russian Black Sea Fleet has continuously monitored the activities of both American ships in the Black Sea.
