April 7th, local time, the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement, noting the offensive propaganda carried out by Ukraine and some Western countries in recent days accusing Russia of escalating tensions on the border between Donbas and Russia and Ukraine. The statement pointed out that the escalation of the situation in Udong was provoked by the Kiev authorities themselves. During this period, Russia carried out regular military training on its own territory, which was smaller than in previous years, but was used as an excuse to cause the escalation of the situation in Udong.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that this false propaganda is to create the necessary information background to divert attention from the military preparations of the Kiev authorities in Donbas, Ukraine’s violation of the Minsk agreement, and NATO countries’ intensification of military activities in Ukraine.
The statement pointed out that Kiev is constantly sending troops and weapons to the Donbas line of contact, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.
At the same time, NATO forces’ activities in the Black Sea within Ukraine and near the Russian border are also increasing. In 2021, NATO countries will hold seven joint exercises in Ukraine. Foreign reconnaissance activities using flying equipment and electronic equipment are more frequent near the Russian border and the Donbas line of contact. NATO countries continue to provide financial and material logistical support to the Ukrainian armed forces, provide lethal weapons, and send instructors to train Ukrainian soldiers.
Russia is seriously concerned about the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out that none of the above measures are conducive to the security of the region and the resolution of the Donbas conflict. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Ukraine and NATO countries to stop crazy anti-Russian propaganda, stop relevant military preparations, and avoid all actions that may lead to instability in the Udon region.
Russia supports the settlement of the Donbas conflict by peaceful means on the basis of the Comprehensive Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreement approved by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2202.
