Russian government: electronic equipment sold in Russia must be pre-installed with domestic software

November 23, local time, the Russian government issued a decree stating that from January 1, 2021, all electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, desktops and laptops, and smart TVs sold in Russia must be pre-installed Domestic software, the bill has been published on the official website of legal information.
According to the bill, after January 1, 2021, high-tech products of related categories that have not been pre-installed with domestically-made software prescribed by the Russian government shall not be sold in Russia.
The bill also lists the domestic software that must be pre-installed on designated categories of electronic products, including basic applications such as search engines, web browsers, social chat software, news software, Meitu navigation, and cloud storage programs.
Including e-mail, voice assistants, online video broadcasting, audio-visual services, national “Mir” payment system, national electronic service system, office and anti-virus software and other service software.
