Russian Deputy Prime Minister: U.S. sanctions on the “North Stream-2” project are protectionist acts

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Novak said on the 4th that the purpose of the U.S. sanctions on the “North Stream-2” project is to export its liquefied natural gas.

This sanctions are definitely not competitive means, but open protectionist acts. All parties concerned understand this, including European countries and companies that support the North Stream-2 project.

Alexander Valentinovich Novak said that with the support of relevant European countries, he believes that the project will be implemented. However, he did not specify the specific completion date of the project.

After the completion of the “North Stream-2” project, Russian gas will be transported to Germany without Ukraine, and then to other European countries.

European contractors of the North Stream-2 project suspended construction at the end of last year, obstructed by the United States with sanctions and other measures.
