December 17, Acting Director-General Bukhanov of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency said that the judgment of the International Sports Arbitration Tribunal showed that Russia had finally won.
Because the court does not restrict innocent Russian athletes from participating in the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and World Championships. The court also failed to adopt the more severe punishments proposed by the World Anti-Doping Agency against Russia. He believes that this is Russia’s victory and an unprecedented precedent.
According to the judgment released on the 17th, Russian athletes will not be able to represent the country in any major international competitions for two years. This means that they can only participate in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in a neutral capacity.
At the end of last year, the World Anti-Doping Agency called for a four-year global ban on Russian sports teams. Russia refused to accept this punishment and then appealed to the International Sports Arbitration Tribunal.
Most of the Russian athletes interviewed, the Sports Association, said they accepted the judgment, but they would still prepare for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games as planned.
The Sled World Cup, scheduled for the end of January 2021 in Germany, will be the first major international event for the Russian sports team to participate in after the judgment came into effect. At present, the Russian Sleigh Association is waiting for the International Sports Arbitration Tribunal to explain some details of the competition.
