Russia sued Google for failing to delete banned content

According to Reuters, Roskomnadzor, a communications watchdog, said on Monday that Russia has opened an investigation into the American technology giant Google because Google has not deleted prohibited content from its search engine.

Roskomnadzor said that Google has not deleted up to 30% of the so-called “dangerous content”, some of which are extremist, pornographic and suicidal in nature. The agency has initiated “administrative proceedings” that could result in court proceedings and fines of up to 5 million roubles ($65,670).
