Rocket alarms were raised in many parts of southern Israel, and Hamas claimed responsibility

Locals in the town of Gatt were forced to interrupt mourning and take shelter as a result of the rocket attack while they held a funeral for a boy who had previously been killed in a rocket attack.

The Qassam Brigades, an armed force affiliated with Hamas, later claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.
