Brussels, December 28 Fischer, spokesperson for the Council of Permanent Representatives of the 27 EU countries to the EU, announced on social media on the 28th that the permanent representatives of the countries to the EU have agreed to implement provisional implementation from January 1, 2021.

The EU and the UK have recently reached an agreement on future relations.

Fischer said that the governments of the EU member states will need to make a written confirmation before 15:00 on the 29th Central European Time (22:00 on the 29th Beijing time).

Prior to this, the permanent representatives of various countries to the European Union had already convened an emergency meeting on the 25th to begin deliberation on the 1,200-page Anglo-Europe agreement.

Barnier, the EU’s chief negotiator in charge of the UK’s “Brexit” affairs, said on social media on the 28th that on the same day he and European Commission President Von der Lein, together with the chairmen of the European Parliament’s parties and the European Parliament’s Anglo-Europe Relations Coordination Group “Productive” dialogue.

The EU and UK negotiators reached an agreement on a series of cooperation details including trade on the 24th, clearing the way for the UK to end the “Brexit” transition period in 2020 as originally planned.

The agreement needs to be approved by the parliaments of both parties before it can take effect.

As there is not much time left in the transition period, the European Union has adopted a flexible procedure, requiring member states to approve the provisional implementation of the agreement from January 1 to February 28 next year, and at the same time request the European Parliament to meet early next year to consider the agreement.
