On October 21, Kraft, the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations, published an article in the media, maliciously attacking China’s cooperation with the United Nations. The article disregards facts, is littered, is logically chaotic, and is full of ideological prejudice and “Cold War” mentality. It is the “McCarthyism” of the new era. We are firmly opposed to this.
Kraft’s article, boasting of how the Trump team fought China’s “strategy to control the United Nations,” seems to have posted a report card, but it is actually a self-confession that the United States has created divisions and instigated confrontation in the United Nations. U.S. foreign policy is dyingly ill.
China is a force for peace, justice and progress that can be relied upon. China’s support for the United Nations conforms to the common expectations of the international community and the common interests of all countries. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a member of the second conference of the United Nations, China has always firmly supported the United Nations and firmly safeguarded international fairness and justice. The ideas and propositions promoted by China in the United Nations are in line with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter. China’s foreign policy has always been on the right side of history, on the side of the trend of the times, and on the side of most countries. On the other hand, the United States has practised unilateralism and prevented other countries from supporting the United Nations. Now it has completely become a “lonely man,” and its unilateral bullying behavior has been rejected by the international community.
China actively participates in the work of the United Nations in various fields, participates in the management of the United Nations, and fulfills its due responsibilities, which is in full compliance with the relevant regulations of the United Nations and the relevant procedures. International staff from China are an integral part of the UN team. They work hard to strengthen multilateralism and strengthen the role of the UN, and they deserve respect. Kraft accused the Chinese international staff of ethics, full of political prejudice, no basis in fact, and completely serving the womb of a gentleman like a villain. The United Nations system currently has 2,531 American staff, including 19 Deputy Secretary-General or Assistant Secretary-General, ranking first among all member countries, and the number far exceeds China. According to Kraft’s logic, should their integrity be questioned? This is an insult to all international staff.
The United States is frantically attacking other countries, neither can it solve the problems it faces, let alone make itself great. More and more countries have realized that the United States is the biggest “troublemaker” in the world today. The greatest threat to ism. The world of the 21st century does not need a “cold war”, it needs cooperation. Under the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the United Nations does not need confrontation, it needs unity. We want to maintain the same system, the international system with the United Nations at its core. We must follow the same set of rules, which are the basic norms of international relations based on the United Nations Charter.
