December 23rd According to AFP Moscow, on December 22nd local time, Russian President Putin signed a bill granting the former president a lifelong immunity.
According to the bill published online on the same day, the former president and his family have immunity from prosecution for crimes committed in their lifetime.
They will also be exempt from being questioned by the police or investigators, and cannot be searched or arrested.
The bill is reportedly part of the constitutional amendment passed this summer. Before the bill became law, the former president of Russia only enjoyed immunity from prosecution for crimes committed during his tenure.
