April 8th – On theĀ 7th, local time, protests broke out among farmers in Haryana, India. Local police used high-pressure water cannons to suppress them, injuring eight farmers.

Farmers, holding black flags, held a protest against the passage of the new farmers’ law at 10 a.m. on the 7th, which lasted for four hours, according to the Indian Express. On the same day, more than 300 police officers were deployed into a “strong human wall” to prevent farmers from approaching the offices of civil institutions.

Local peasant leader Lakwind Singh said: “We were going to hold a peaceful protest, but the police set up roadblocks far away from the office and stopped us. We asked to walk near the office. When the farmers tried to break through the roadblock, the police used high-pressure water cannons against us. About eight farmers were injured in the accident.
