Portugal extends the state of emergency again until December 23

by YCPress

On December 4th local time, the Portuguese House of Representatives voted to extend the national emergency for another 15 days from December 9 to December 23.

Since the Portuguese Constitution stipulates that each state of emergency cannot be extended for more than 15 days, President de Sousa announced that he would continue to extend the state of emergency until January 7, 2021 after that, so as to take strong epidemic prevention and control measures during the holiday.

In response to the COVID-19 epidemic, Portugal imposed its first national emergency on March 19, which ended in early May after two extensions. With the arrival of the second wave of epidemic in autumn and winter, Portugal declared a state of emergency again from November 9.
