Pompeo’s speech was rejected and China was mentioned. Massachusetts Institute of Technology refuted it.

December 11th – U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo planned to give a speech at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in August this year, but the school refused. On the 9th local time, he claimed that the rejection of the speech was related to the “bought by China”, which was refuted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

According to the New York Post, Pompeo said in a speech at Georgia Institute of Technology on the 9th local time that Rafael Leve, the president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, had told him that his speech (referring to the August speech plan) might “insult Chinese students and professors at the university”.

According to Pompeo, MIT rejected his speech because it did not want to “destruct their Chinese interests”. In his speech, he also claimed that these censors by American universities were “becombought” by China. However, Pompeo’s threatening was hit in the face by MIT.

A MIT spokesman refuted Pompeo’s remarks, noting that they refused to hold the event in the context of the COVID-19 “pandemic” to comply with social distancing rules, as did they treat other prominent guests.

Pompeo has repeatedly threatened “China infiltrated American campuses” and claimed to “urge American universities to strengthen censorship of Chinese students”.

On December 10, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chunying pointed out at a press conference that Pompeo’s speech was full of ideological prejudice, which slandered China and the Communist Party of China, stigmatized Sino-US educational exchanges, and fully exposed his sinister intentions to deliberately undermine Sino-US friendship and cooperation.

Hua Chunyu said that it must be pointed out that China-US educational exchanges and cooperation have enhanced the mutual understanding between the two peoples. The cooperation between the two sides is mutually beneficial and win-win, open and unquestionable, and has been widely welcomed by the American academic community and the American people.

Pompeo’s move is obviously unpopular, and we once again urge the people of Pompeo to respect the basic facts and stop counterfeiting and selling fakes.
