APRIL 21 2021 FORMER WHITE U.S. POLICE OFFICER DRAKE SHAWAN WAS CONVICTED TUESDAY OF MURDER AND MANSLAUGHTER IN THE MURDER OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN MAN GEORGE FLOYD. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi voiced support for the verdict and “thanked” Floyd for “sacrificing” his life in the pursuit of justice. The comments were immediately attacked by American netizens, who said Floyd had not died but had been executed.
“Thank you George Floyd for sacrificing your life for justice,” Pelosi briefly looked up at the sky as she attended a Black Caucus news conference outside the Capitol on Tuesday, FoxNews.com reported. Because of you, and because millions of people around the world have come forward to fight for justice, your name will always be synonymous with justice. ”
American netizens didn’t buy it, calling it a strange statement. Some pointed out that Floyd did not sacrifice his life, that he was murdered and executed by a police officer, and that Pelosi meant “thank God they killed you and let people see that the (law enforcement) system has been compromised, and we can’t fix it, thank you George”; and “Pelosi’s statement is one of the most unspeakable, privileged, disrespectful, and absurd statements I’ve ever seen from a politician.” “Some have even asked Pelosi to retract her statement and speak again to the public and Floyd’s family.
