The Pan American Health Organization held a press conference on the 27th local time to summarize the recent pandemic prevention and control situation in the Americas.
The organization said that the country with the most severe pandemic situation in Latin America is Brazil, which is currently the country with the largest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region.
According to the data, at present, three-quarters of the beds in the intensive care unit of Brazil’s national hospitals are used to treat COVID-19 patients.
In areas with severe pandemic such as Manaus, the capital of the state of the state of Amazon, many patients have not been admitted to the hospital smoothly because of the upper limit of the hospital’s reception capacity, and the local area is still facing a shortage of medical oxygen.
Difficulties. The Pan American Health Organization is particularly worried about the prevention and control of the pandemic in Brazil, and the country’s health care system will soon be overwhelmed as the pandemic spreads further.
In addition, Colombia has recently seen the fastest growth rate of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in other countries in Latin America.
Paraguay and Chile have also shown growth, while the spread of the pandemic in Argentina and Uruguay has slowed down.
At the same time, the organization said that in Central America, in addition to Honduras and Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica and other countries have made progress in pandemic prevention and control, and new confirmed cases have recently shown signs of slowing down.
