According to Iranian state television, on January 8th local time, Iran held the opening ceremony of a missile base on the coastline of the Persian Gulf in the south of the country, attended by Saramy, the commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guard Corps.

It is reported that the missile base is located in the underground tunnel near the Strait of Hormuz.

As can be seen in the long tunnel, hundreds of missiles of various types are displayed on the ground or loaded on trucks.

Salami said that the base is one of several facilities for storing strategic missiles of the Revolutionary Guard Navy, including missile launch systems.

According to him, the base is thousands of meters deep, and the Revolutionary Guard Navy has many such complex facilities.

Salami pointed out that the Revolutionary Guard Navy has the most advanced missiles, which can carry out surface-to-sea, surface-to-ground, air-sea and sea-to-air battles.

When necessary, Iranian combatants will take the necessary measures to safeguard national security and national interests in the Persian Gulf and on the Iranian mainland.

Khamenei appeal

The United States should lift sanctions against Iraq.

On the same day, on the 8th, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei delivered a television speech on hot issues such as the relationship between the United States and Iran and the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

He stressed again that the United States should lift sanctions against Iran as soon as possible and return to the Iran nuclear agreement.

In his speech, Khamenei said that there are currently three “core differences” between Iran and the Western countries led by the United States, namely: American sanctions against Iran, the West’s accusations of Iran’s influence in the region, and the development of Iran’s missile research and other defense forces.

Iran says it can enrich uranium

“Easy” to 90%

Kamalwandi, spokesman of Iran Atomic Energy Organization, said on the 7th that Iran can “easily” increase the abundance of enriched uranium to 90%, that is, to the level of weapons-grade enriched uranium.

Kamalwandi said on Iranian state television on the same day that if there is a need to increase enriched uranium abundance to more than 20% in some areas, then the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization can do this, and Iran can “easily” increase the enriched uranium abundance to 90%.

However, on the same day, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Aragesh said that Iran’s plan was reversible and that if the United States lifts sanctions against Iran, Iran will terminate its plan to produce 20% enriched uranium.

He stressed that Iran welcomes the return of the United States to the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue, but “does not beg the United States to return to the agreement”.

According to the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the enrichment of civilian-grade uranium is up to 20%, while the enrichment of weapons-grade uranium needs to reach 90%.

Some industry insiders pointed out that theoretically, there are “no technical barriers” between the production of 20% enriched uranium and 90% enriched uranium.
