Abuja, January 5th local time, Nigerian President Buhari met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was officially visiting Nepal in Abuja.
Buhari asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that over the past 50 years, Nepal-China relations have achieved constructive results, and Nepal is very satisfied with the progress of bilateral relations.
Thanks to China for its strong support, it has effectively alleviated the problems of infrastructure underdevelopment and food shortage, and has played a very important role in Nepal’s sustainable development. The Nepali government will continue to be committed to promoting the all-round development of Nepal-China relations.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping’s cordial greetings to Buhari. Wang Yi said that the heads of state of the two countries have established good mutual trust and deep friendship, which has played a strategic leading role in the development of Sino-Neplian relations.
China has been in its annual foreign relations since Africa for 30 consecutive years, and this year is no exception. Nepal is a large African country and has always occupied an important position in China’s diplomatic relations with Africa.
Thanks to Nepal for standing with China on issues related to China’s core interests, China will also continue to firmly support Nepal in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security and development interests, and to support Nepal to play a greater role in regional and international issues.
Wang Yi said that with the joint efforts of the two sides, China-Negni cooperation has achieved fruitful results.
China is willing to work with Nepal to give full play to the role of the intergovernmental committee of the two countries, promote all-round cooperation between China and Nepal, and promote the further improvement of bilateral relations.
Wang Yi said that the current century’s epidemic has accelerated global change, the international situation has entered a period of turbulence and change, and unilateralism and protectionism have risen.
China is willing to work with Nepal to adhere to multilateralism, jointly promote the democratization of international relations, and jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of China and Nepal and the vast number of developing countries.
On the same day, Wang Yi also held talks with Nigerian Foreign Minister Onyama and met with journalists together.
After the talks, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of the China-Negnitergovernmental Committee.
