The streets of Wellington, New Zealand’s capital, were empty on August 18, local time. New Zealand’s prime minister, Jacinda Adeen, announced that the country had entered the highest level of outbreak prevention and control at midnight, as Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, reported new community-confirmed cases on Wednesday.

In the level 4 response, the government will require all people to be isolated at home and cut off all possible human contact.

Adair said at the same day at the press conference, although the patient has not been confirmed to be infected with the highly contagious Delta strain, but the recent isolation facilities in New Zealand overseas imported cases are Delta strain infection cases, the government decided to “quickly and resolutely” respond.
