New York City, the highest positive rate for COVID-19 testing since May, exceeds 5%
On December 3 local time, New York City Mayor de Blasio said at a press conference that the city’s COVID-19 test positive rate has exceeded 5%, the highest level since May.
According to the report, New York City recorded more than 11,000 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 75 deaths and 802 hospitalizations last week. At the press conference, De Blasio also announced that he would establish a “special agency for epidemic response”.
The agency, which will be settled in Manhattan, is committed to developing new technologies and systems that will be able to warn of other outbreaks in the future, training public health experts and helping to improve the level of health infrastructure.”
The special agency for epidemic response is expected to start operation in late 2021.
