New variant of COVID-19 virus has been discovered in Malaysia

According to a report by Today Online News Network on the 24th, Noor Hisham, the director of the Malaysian Ministry of Health, said on the 23rd that Malaysia has discovered a variant of the novel coronavirus strain called A701V.

A701V was found in 60 samples of the Benteng LD group in Sabah.

“A701V and a spike protein mutation have also been reported in other countries, including South America, Australia, the Netherlands and Singapore. But we don’t know yet about the clinical effects of this mutant virus, and its rate of infection or aggression,” Hisham told reporters.
