Local people decided to celebrate the carnival by decorating their houses.

According to Fox News, the mayor of New Orleans announced the cancellation of the parade in November 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The local people decided to decorate their houses with floats.

Local resident Megan Joey Budrauks launched the campaign. She tweeted to suggest that people celebrate Carnival by decorating their houses as floats.

As of January 6, more than 9,000 people participated in the event, even including residents of other countries.

Charlotte Jarance-Daly, who is responsible for mapping, said that about 3,000 houses, including some as far as England and Australia, will appear on the official online map.
