November 25th – As of the 25th local time, there have been a number of COVID-19 cluster outbreaks in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, and 3 mayors and 10 county councillors have been diagnosed. Four other mayors and four parliamentarians are close contacts and are under quarantine.

According to a report by KHB TV station in Japan on the 25th, after the mayor of Ōsaki City of Miyagi Prefecture, Yashiro Ito, was diagnosed on the 21st, six mayors and mayors who had dinner with him were tested. Two of them were diagnosed and the other four were negative, but they also needed to self-isolate for two weeks, so the daily operation of the local government was affected to a certain extent.

A gathering epidemic also occurred in Miyagi Prefecture Council, and 10 members of Parliament who had dinner in Sendai City were diagnosed one after another. The remaining 47 members of Miyagi Prefecture Council were also tested negative, and the November meeting on the 25th was not affected.

After the continuous number of confirmed cases in the area, Kahiro I, the governor of Miyagi Prefecture, said on the 24th that “there may be problems with the way of dinner, which also makes us realize that everyone can be infected. In order to maintain the operation of the executive body and the parliament, stricter epidemic prevention measures must be taken.”
