May 5 2021 At least 12 people have been killed and many others injured in large-scale rioting in West Bengal state on Wednesday morning, after the results of the election were announced.
Indian Prime Minister Naremon Modi on thursday expressed concern to the governor of West Bengal about the violence.
Reported that the results of the election on the 3rd triggered riots, a number of workers were killed, including women.
The BJP said more than 4,000 homes had been looted and accused the Congress party of setting fires in its offices, which the Congress party denied, saying the BJP had created social conflict by losing the election and that the two parties were at loggerheads.
In elections in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee’s congress party reportedly won 213 of the 292 parliamentary seats, more than two-thirds of the seats needed to win the election, giving Banerjee a third term as chief minister in the state, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost by less than 80 seats.
