Malaysia has confirmed the first case of multi-variant strain infection found in India

2 May, Malaysian Health Minister Azam noted that Malaysia had the first confirmed case of B.1.617.1, a highly contagious strain found in India;

Azam issued a notice the same day, the variant of Coronavirus is the patient concerned in Malaysia’s main immigration screening, the whole genome sequence analysis (WGS) results.

“When we screened at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, we detected this multi-mutation virus, B.1.617.1, on an incoming Indian citizen,” he said. This is the first case in our country (B.1.617.1 case).
