January 30th – On theĀ 29th local time, French President Macron said that the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine seems to be ineffective for people over 65 years old.
According to AFP, Macron said in an interview on the same day, “We believe that this vaccine seems to be ineffective for people over 65.
And for people between 60 and 65 years old, AstraZeneca’s early results are not encouraging.”
Macron questioned the report on the same day that the British government postponed the vaccination of the second dose for 12 weeks in order to increase production and let more people vaccinated.
Macron said: “Our goal is not to get as many first doses as possible. All health agencies and manufacturers say that the maximum number of days between shots is 28 days.
I don’t think this practice is serious. Several scientists have also said that if only one dose is injected, it will accelerate the mutation of the virus, because people’s vaccination coverage is not adequately covered.
