January 8th – British Sky News Network, London Evening Standard and other British media reported on the 8th that with the surge of COVID-19 cases and more and more patients admitted to hospital, London Mayor Sadiq Khan declared that the city had entered a state of “major accident”.

“Now that the situation in London is very critical, the spread of the virus has been out of control…because the threat of this virus to our city has reached the point of crisis, and we have declared a major accident.” Sadik Khan said.

“Without immediate action, our NHS could be overwhelmed and more people will die.” Sadik Khan also appealed to people to stay at home as much as possible.

“Londoners will continue to make great sacrifices for this, and I also implore everyone to stay at home and not go out.”
