On the same day, Lebanese President Aun, Prime Minister Diab of the caretaker government, Prime Minister-designate Hariri and other dignitaries, as well as factions such as the Amal movement, condemned the incident and demanded that the murderer be punished.
In addition, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon and the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon condemned the assassination and called for a transparent investigation.
