According to the Associated Press, the presidential election results were confirmed on December 4th local time in California. 55 voters promised to vote for Biden, officially granting him the majority of seats in the electoral college required to win the White House.
State Secretary Padilla officially approved Biden’s victory in the state, bringing his electoral votes to 279 so far, exceeding the 270-vote threshold, according to the report.
Edward Foley, a law professor at Ohio State University, reportedly said that although Biden has obviously won the presidential election in weeks, the more than 270 votes are the first step to the White House. “It’s a legal milestone …” Foley said, “Everything before that was premised on what we call the prediction.”
