January 16th, local time, according to Austrian state television, large-scale protests broke out in many parts of the Austrian capital Vienna.
Thousands of far-right people rushed to the streets of Vienna to oppose the “lockdown” measures implemented by the government to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic.
According to official information, at least 20 people have been arrested.
The protest lasted until about 1830 hours, seriously disrupting traffic in the nearby area.
Many of the people who participated in the protest march did not wear masks and ignored the epidemic prevention regulations.
Some protesters tried to sit in the streets of Vienna.
In light of the spread of the mutant virus across Austria, the Austrian government is currently discussing a decision to extend the blockade further.
As of January 16th local time, Austria has a total of 387,995 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 6,987 deaths.
