August 19 2021, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying that Kazakhstan is highly concerned about the development of the situation in Afghanistan, the country is currently in a decisive historical moment, the long-standing conflict should be resolved by the Afghan people themselves.
The statement said that Kazakhstan called on all parties involved in Afghanistan to ensure a smooth transition of power. Kazakhstan supports the statement adopted by the UN Security Council that Afghanistan should form an inclusive and representative government, respect the rights of ethnic minorities and women, pose no threat to other countries and abide by international law. “Compliance with these principles should be a necessary condition for opening dialogue with the new Afghan regime,” he said.
