In the early hours of April 25, local time, the Sakurashima volcano in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, a large-scale eruption, smoke up to 4,200 meters, the resulting volcanic debris flowed 1.8 kilometers southwest.
It is understood there were no casualties from the eruption. Japan’s Meteorological Agency issued a Level 3 alert for the area around the crater and warned that future eruptions of debris could reach 2.4 kilometers and be on high alert.
