May 11 2021 An Italian woman was mistakenly given six times the dose of Pfizer’s Coronavirus vaccine in one go. Fortunately, the woman did not develop an adverse reaction and was discharged from the hospital after being observed.
A nurse mistakenly gave the 23-year-old woman six doses of the Coronavirus vaccine in one go until she was injected, a hospital spokesman said Monday, the New York Daily News reported. The hospital has launched an internal investigation but believes the nurse did not do so on purpose. The hospital found out that the woman had been given a multi-dose vaccine at once and kept her in the hospital for 24 hours. The woman was safely discharged from the hospital on the 10th after no complications or adverse reactions were found.
Local experts believe that over-vaccination of the Coronavirus vaccine is unlikely to lead to serious complications, but the vaccinators still need a second injection. It is reported that the overdose is not the first time in the world. In April, dozens of inmates at iowa State Prison were given Pfizer’s Coronavirus vaccine, but at six times the recommended dose, they were hospitalized for other side effects such as physical pain and fever.
