Italian Prime Minister Conte: “Dismissal ban” extended to the end of March 2021

On October 30, local time, Italian Prime Minister Conte announced the extension of the “dismissal ban” until the end of March 2021 after a meeting with representatives of trade union organizations.

Conte said that everyone is experiencing a special period of anxiety and pain. For this reason, the government believes that it is necessary to bring certainty and security to all workers through financial efforts.

He also emphasized that employers can continue to use the “New Crown Subsidy Fund” established by the government.

In order to alleviate the impact of the epidemic on employment and social economy, the Italian government issued a decree on March 17, requiring employers not to terminate the labor contract for objective reasons.

After two extensions, this provision was originally scheduled to expire at the end of 2020.
