Israeli Prime Minister’s Removes Twitter Profile photo with Trump

According to Reuters, on January 12, local time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu withdrew his photo with US President Trump on the homepage of his Twitter account. Reuters said that this is believed to be a line between Trump, a political ally who may be impeached for the second time in his term.

Netanyahu’s official Twitter account homepage has long displayed a picture of him sitting next to Trump during the White House meeting with Trump, and has always been proud of him, which shows the conservative Israeli leader’s close relationship with the President of the United States and Trump’s reputation in Israel.

But earlier on the 12th, the photo containing Trump was removed and replaced by a picture of Netanyahu being vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, which also said the slogan of the Israeli vaccination campaign: “Israeli citizens, we are returning to life”.

Although Trump was defeated by Democratic presidential candidate Biden in the November U.S. election, Netanyahu has previously kept photos of his meeting with Trump on his official Twitter account because he has been consistent with Trump in terms of tough policies against Iran and Palestine.

Netanyahu also briefly removed the photo last December and replaced it with a picture with the theme of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah holiday, which triggered media speculation that Netanyahu had decided to distance himself from Trump.

But when the eight-day holiday ended, Trump appeared on Netanyahu’s Twitter homepage again.

However, the picture is no longer the picture of him and Netanyahu’s meeting at the White House, but a picture of Netanyahu when he signed the agreement on normalizing relations with Israel at the White House in September with Trump and the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

At present, Netanyahu’s Twitter account has no explanation for the removal of Trump’s photo this time, just one day before the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to impeach Trump for the second time in connection with last week’s Capitol riots.

Netanyahu said in a televised speech on the 7th that the “atrocities” that happened in the U.S. Capitol were shameful.

It is worth mentioning that on the evening of the 8th local time, U.S. social media Twitter announced that Twitter decided to permanently block Trump’s personal account in view of the “risk of further incitement to violence”.
