April 6th local time, Israeli President Rivlin signed a letter of appointment, giving current Prime Minister Netanyahu a 28-day deadline, authorizing Netanyahu to form a new Israeli government.
According to the usual practice, Netanyahu needs to convene a coalition that can win the support of a majority of the Knesset and form a new government within 28 days.
If the cabinet fails to be formed after expiration, Rivlin will authorize the second candidate to form the cabinet within four weeks.
