According to the Associated Press on January 31, the Israeli government announced on Sunday that it would transfer 5,000 doses of coronavirus vaccine to Palestine to vacculate front-line medical staff.
The Associated Press noted that the announcement was announced by the office of Israel’s Defense Minister Benny Gantz, adding that the announcement marked the first official confirmation of the transfer of a coronavirus vaccine to Palestine.
The Associated Press said that no specific timetable for the transfer was published.
Palestinian officials said that their government did not have the funds to buy enough vaccines for their people.
The Associated Press pointed out that the Palestinian Authority is trying to buy vaccines through the World Health Organization’s COVAX program.
However, the program has reportedly been slow to make progress in distributing vaccines.
