January 4th, local time, according to local media sources, the Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and shooting of 11 coal miners in the Maher area of Bolan City, Balochistan Province, Pakistan.

The attack took place early on January 3, and preliminary investigations showed that the killed workers belonged to the Shiite Hazara community.

Murad Kasi, deputy commissioner of Bolan City, said that four people were injured in the incident and were receiving treatment. Shortly after the incident, local authorities and border police personnel blocked the area.

“After their hands were tied behind their backs, all coal miners’ throats were cut,” an anonymous security official told the media. ISIS subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack through its news agency Amaq and the news channel Telegram.
