The Iraqi Ministry of Health issued a statement on the same day saying that the Iraqi National Drug Screening Authority approved the emergency use of two kinds of coronavirus vaccines, namely, the coronavirus vaccine produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group and the coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca in the United Kingdom.
Iraqi Health Minister Hassan Tamimi said at a meeting of the Iraqi National Drug Screening Authority on the same day that the Iraqi Ministry of Health has made preparations to receive the coronavirus vaccine and identified the priority population for vaccination.
Saif Badr, spokesman of the Iraqi Ministry of Health, told Xinhua News Agency that China’s vaccine meets the scientific standards set by Iraq’s National Drug Screening Bureau, so Iraq has approved the emergency use of the coronavirus vaccine produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group in Iraq.
Previously, the Iraqi health department had approved the emergency use of the coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
and the German Biotechnology Company in Iraq.
According to the Iraqi Ministry of Health on the 19th, 823 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Iraq on the same day, with a total of 609852 confirmed cases; 9 new deaths, with a total of 12,962 deaths; and 573,011 were cured.
