Russian Sputnik News Agency reported on February 21 that Shokrollah Bahrami, head of the judicial organization of the Iranian armed forces, said on Saturday that the agency had completed the investigation into the shooting down of Ukrainian Airlines passenger plane by Iranian missiles earlier last year.
“The court martial has completed its investigation into the crash of the UAE passenger plane, and we are currently drafting an indictment,” Bahrami said.
According to the statement published on the organization’s website, the court will hold a hearing after all preparations have been completed.
January 8 last year, a Ukrainian Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft took off from Khomeini International Airport in Tehran, the capital of Iran, for Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, but crashed shortly after take-off, leaving 167 passengers and 9 crew members on board for life.
The Iranian military later issued a statement saying that the passenger plane was shot down by the Iranian military “unintentionally” and that the accident was caused by “man-made mistakes”.
