January 9th, when the news of the crash of Indonesian Sanfoqi Airlines Flight SJ182 reached Kundian, the capital of West Kalimantan, the families of passengers waiting to meet their loved ones at Subadio International Airport cried loudly.
Yaman Zai was one of them. His wife and three children were in the crashed Boeing 737-500 aircraft. The flight from Jakarta International Airport to Kundian should have taken off at 13:40 local time and arrived at Kundian Airport at 15:15. Due to the heavy rain, the plane did not take off until 14:36.
“Before takeoff, my wife also sent me pictures of the youngest child who is only 11 months old. This is my lovely daughter on the screen. With extremely sad tears, Yaman showed the reporter the screen of his mobile phone. On the screen, the head of a pure and sweet little girl with a pure smile is extremely cute.
Yaman, a resident of Lias Island, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, has just worked in a company in Kundian City for a year. He said that his wife and children are preparing to move to Kundian to stay with him. Unexpectedly, on a family visit, the whole family was separated by yin and yang.
A couple and three children of a staff member of the Bank of Western Canada took advantage of the New Year’s holiday to visit Bandung’s family and travel back to Kundian to board the flight. The family of five died in the sea together…
The first information that the family members of relatives have not been waiting for a long time at Kundian Airport was that the flight was “lost in contact”.
The suffering was so high that the night that Indonesian Transport Minister Boudi confirmed that the plane lost contact with the ground four minutes after taking off from Jakarta Airport, and was later confirmed to have crashed into the waters of the Kuril Islands north of Jakarta.
The flight has 50 passengers and 12 crew members, including 7 children and 3 young children.
That night, Indonesian President Joko instructed departments to do their best to search for survivors.
A multi-department joint search and rescue command center was set up at the container terminal of Tanjung Bulu Port, Jakarta.
A joint search and rescue team composed of the country’s National Search and Rescue Center, the navy, army and air force, the police and relevant departments carried out search and rescue in the area of the accident overnight.
On the 10th, after a day of search and rescue, it was found that the hope of the passengers’ survival was very slim.
By the evening of the 10th, search and rescue personnel had salvaged the bodies of the victims in the sea of the accident and handed them over to the police hospital responsible for the identification of the deceased.
A large number of suspected victims’ clothes and aircraft wreckage were also salvaged ashore.
Bagus Pruchto, head of Indonesia’s search and rescue agency, said that the black box location of the crashed passenger plane had been locked.
On the 10th, Joko expressed deep sorrow at the flight crash and promised that the government would do its best to search for the remains of the victims.
