At least 10 people were killed and a hydroelectric dam was washed away.
According to “India Today”, according to a preliminary report by the Indian Air Force’s aerial reconnaissance, the Tapuwan Hydropower Dam at the confluence of the Tauliganga River and the Rishganga River was completely washed away by the flood after the glacier broke.
This dam is also known as the Rishiganga Hydropower Project.
The Indian Air Force reported in its report that after conducting aerial reconnaissance in the area, it found that two bridges at the entrance of the Malali Valley near Tapwan were also washed away.
The scene survey images show that there are many rubble in the river.
According to reports, a dam in the Chamoli area of Uttarakhand, India, was broken due to a glacier on a nearby mountain, causing 10 deaths, 16 rescued, and more than 100 missing.
A spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of the Interior said that the National Disaster Relief Emergency Force has sent 4 rescue teams with about 200 rescuers, and the military has sent airplanes, helicopters and naval frogmen to the disaster area.
