January 28 Gujas Geergay, Minister of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office, announced on the 28th that the Hungarian government has decided to extend curfew and other coronavirus prevention and control measures to March 1.

Guyashi announced at a press conference on the same day that the validity period of pandemic prevention and control measures would be extended.

He said that the Hungarian government will consider relaxing pandemic prevention and control measures only after a sharp decline in new confirmed cases in a single day or a large proportion of the population is vaccinated.

Hungary has implemented stricter pandemic prevention and control measures from 00:00 on November 11, 2020, including a nationwide curfew from 20:00 to 5:00 the next day, restaurants are only allowed to provide food delivery services, and the change of college students and senior secondary school students to online classes.

These measures are valid for an initial period of one month, and after two extensions until February 1.

According to the data released by the Hungarian Center for Coronavirus Prevention and Control on the 28th, there have been 1,569 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, with a total of 363,450 confirmed cases; 93 new deaths, with a total of 12,291 deaths; and a total of 24,9003 cured cases.
