August 18th 2021 WHO held a regular press conference on coronavirus, WHO Chief Scientist Sumia Swaminatan said that the Delta strain is highly contagious, has been vaccinated after the case of the virus. But the vaccine can be effective in preventing severe illness and death caused by the Delta strain.
Sumia Swaminathan also stressed the importance of wearing masks, which recent studies have shown are more likely to reduce community transmission of the virus in countries with high vaccination rates.
