According to local media reports in Haiti, on February 7 local time, the Haitian authorities said that they had foiled the attempt to murder President Jovenel Moise and overthrow the government.

President of Haiti Jovenel Moise Haiti’s Minister of Justice Rockefeller Vincent said that 23 people were arrested in the “attempted coup”, including a Supreme Court judge and an official of the Haitian National Police.
President Jovenel Moise thanked the security chief who successfully protected himself.
Jovenel Moise had previously said that his term of office would end on February 7, 2022 under the Haitian Constitution, but the opposition did not agree with his interpretation of the constitution.
Jovenel Moise has been President of Haiti since 2017, and the march for his resignation has intensified since 2018.
