On the evening of the 14th local time, the Elysee Palace of the French presidential palace issued an official communiqué introducing the telephone conversation between French President Macron and Russian President Putin on that day.
According to the communiqué, on the issue of Ukraine, Macron reiterated his determination to actively promote the implementation of the Minsk Agreement and hoped that France and Germany would continue to act as mediators within the framework of the “Normandy Model”. As traditional festivals and the New Year approach, Macron also called on Putin to jointly support the implementation of humanitarian measures in the border area of Ukraine.
In the case of Belarus, Macron said that the measures formulated by the European Union and the efforts of international agencies have effectively reduced the scale of migration flows and provided assistance to people stranded at the border. Macron expressed the hope that Russia would support UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration to take corresponding actions.
Referring to the tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Macron and Putin agreed that France and Russia, as co-chairs of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, should work for confidence-building measures at the humanitarian level between the two parties to the conflict.
The communiqué concluded that the leaders of France and Russia will talk again about the development of the above issues before the end of the year.
