According to the Russian News Agency, quoting Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 4 soldiers were killed and 42 injured in a traffic accident involving a truck hitting a Russian convoy on January 11 local time, one of whom was seriously injured.
The convoy of military vehicles of the Russian Ministry of Defense consists of four buses, carrying a total of 127 soldiers.
The accident occurred 28 kilometers from the M-9 road (New Riga Highway) in the suburbs of Moscow.
At the time of the accident, the civil heavy truck driven by the driver of the accident suddenly lost control and crashed into a Russian convoy driving on the same side of the road.
Russian law enforcement agencies have initiated criminal proceedings against the driver who caused the accident in accordance with the corresponding provisions of the Criminal Law of the Russian Federation on “violation of road traffic regulations and causing the death of two or more people”.
The latter may face up to seven years in prison.
