Former Sudanese Prime Minister Sadik Mahdi died of COVID-19

Khartoum, November 26 The Sudanese Umma Party issued a statement on the 26th, saying that the chairman of the Sudanese Uma Party and former Prime Minister Sadik Mahdi died of the worsening condition of the novel coronavirus infection at the age of 84.

According to the statement, Mahdi died in the United Arab Emirates due to complications such as acute pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus infection. The statement did not disclose the exact time of Mehdi’s death.

Mehdi tested positive for the novel coronavirus on October 29 and was immediately treated locally in Sudan. In early November, he was sent to the United Arab Emirates for further treatment.

Mehdi was born in December 1935 in the city of Sultan Ntuman. He served as Prime Minister of the Sudan from 1966 to 1967 and from 1986 to 1989.
