Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, former prime minister of Afghanistan and chairman of the Islamic Party, said in an interview with reporters from the Asia-Africa Center of the General Taiwan on the evening of August 18 that the formation of a coordination committee in the current situation in Afghanistan is necessary and necessary.
The supreme power vacuum in Afghanistan following the cessation of the previous Government is bound to have very serious consequences.
‘We must put an end to this dangerous situation as soon as possible, ‘ said Gulbuddin Hekmatyar. To that end, we have unanimously decided to negotiate with the Taliban leadership with a view to reaching agreement on ending the power vacuum.
‘Under these circumstances, we (Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, former President Hamid Karzai, Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah)) have formed a coordinating committee,’ explained Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.
We had planned to travel to Doha, where we would hold talks with the Taliban. But that has changed and talks will take place in Kabul. Taliban leaders are currently on their way to Kabul.
We hope that the current chaotic political situation will be concluded through negotiations as soon as possible to fill the power vacuum.
