“Russia Today” (RT) on the 16th, Facebook quietly restored US President Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.

After the congressional riots, Trump’s accounts on both social platforms were frozen.

According to the report, later on January 15th local time, Trump’s accounts on both platforms were restored.

RT said that neither Instagram nor its parent company Facebook gave any explanation for the sudden move.

RT also mentioned that despite this, no signs of activity have been observed since the accounts were restored, and it is not clear whether Trump has really regained control of these accounts again.

On the afternoon of January 6, a group of Trump supporters protesting “election fraud” in Washington rushed into the U.S. Capitol, and the ongoing process of confirming the final outcome of the election at a joint meeting of the Senate and the House of Representatives was suspended.

Parliamentarians were evacuated urgently, and protesters confronted and clashed with military and police forces.

Police opened fire on the spot, killing at least four demonstrators in the clash. Many American politicians and major media, including former President George W. Bush and several Republican lawmakers, accused the demonstrators of being “thugs” and said that it was Trump who incited the “riot” and the call for “remove Trump” was high.

After the congressional riots, several social media, including Twitter and Facebook, issued a “ban” on Trump.

Facebook CEO Zuckerberg announced on January 7 that he would block Trump from Facebook and its photo-sharing website Instagram until at least the end of his term on January 20.

On January 6, Facebook and Twitter had frozen Trump accounts for 24 hours and 12 hours respectively.
