December 17th – A couple in Illinois, USA, found a special way to continue the habit of eating out. They turned the van into a mobile restaurant for two people.
According to a report by the United Press International Service (UPI) on the 16th, after many restaurants were closed due to the epidemic, Doug White and Kim White missed the experience of eating out, which they believed was impossible for take-out.
Kim told the media: “You can choose to order takeout. The meal is put in a small box, and then you take it home and eat the food in the box. What’s the point of this?”
In October, the couple relived dining out by changing the back of the van to a mini-restaurant. “We went to the store and bought a small table, and then in the car, carpeted and folded chairs,” King said. Doug said that the cost of this renovation process was less than $100.
Since then, they have often brought food to the car to enjoy.
“It’s a normal thing for us to eat out right now,” King said. The couple also recorded their experience of eating in the car on social platforms. They were deeply encouraged by the reaction of netizens, and some netizens even wanted to pay for dinner in their restaurants.
